About B Boy Craig
Craig has been a visible face in Houston as an MC, b-boy (BBC: B-Boy Craig), promoter, artist, and clothing designer since the late 1980s.
In the early ’90s, he and I worked together in the art room at Mickey Phoenix’s Calico Print, which around that time began collaborating with Houston graffiti artist GONZO247 and Aerosol Warfare. BBC has been a regular on the mic at Magic Bus, Power Tools, Club Waxx, Rhythm Room, his monthlies The Bench and The Scenario, and the massive Mixed Media events he hosted at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston from 2004 to 2011. Of late he is out promoting the #HHIFE (Hip Hop Is For Everyone) movement, welcoming everyone to hip-hop through celebrating the genre’s diversity.
How did the energy level of those crowds com-pare to that of The Bench?
Well, back then the MC controlled the crowd in a different kind of way. Everybody was so in tune with what was going on. I mean, there was still competition, and it was respected competition, but it was like, when so and so would step into the area, you knew it, you know?
